RACHEL SERMANNI:
http://www.rachelsermanni.net
A straight-up storyteller with a voice to blow all others clean out of the water...22-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni packs an almighty punch with her earthy folk melodies and dextrous fingerpicking.
Her hometown of Carrbridge - with its rugged mountain backdrop in the heart of the Highland skiing fields - is rife with creative potential and Rachel's traditional folk lineage continues to pervade her work. But since upping sticks to Glasgow, her songs have also been shaped by new beginnings. "Jazz, folk, indie - all the spheres seem to meld together and there are no boundaries, which creates an incredibly healthy scene," she says.
Rachel's razor-sharp wit and natural affinity with any audience somehow belie her young age and have led to support slots with the likes of Mumford and Sons, Rumer, Elvis Costello, Ron Sexsmith and Michael Kiwanuka.
Influenced by musicians such as Eva Cassidy, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, she was showcased at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, and 'The Herald' chose her as one of their stars of 2012 - the year she also released her first album, Under Mountains.
For this, her first visit to Three Minute Theatre, and her first Manchester show in over 2 years, Rachel will be joined by Jennifer Austin on the piano and Colin Macleod on the guitar.
CAITLIN GILLIGAN:

Young Scottish songwriter Caitlin Gilligan grew up playing music in rural Galloway. Now based in Manchester and Liverpool, her songs still echo the wild empty spaces of her Scottish childhood. Her influences include American folk artists such as Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, yet her voice retains a simple Celtic quality.
Undeniably, her music harks back to a simpler time; her songs demonstrate a clear-throated voice reminiscent of iconic folk singer Joan Baez, while the unornamented instrumentation allows the tunes to speak for themselves.
EMILY ROSE HALL:

Emily Rose Hall is a 17 year old singer-songwriter living in the countryside of Bolton.
Her music possesses a contemporary folk style that is inspired by artists such as Fleet Foxes, Bob Dylan, Bon Iver and Johnny Cash.
Emily's songs have been described as mellow and earthy, lyrically reflecting her curious outlook on the world and deep love for nature
