Event information

Following the release of their album It's A Good Job I Love You to a sold out Band On The Wall at the end of 2013, Honeyfeet have been tirelessly gigging. In the meantime the band has expanded, and secured a publishing deal.

They have also began recording the next album at Manchester's Airtight Studios. Still, with much mixing, mastering, pressing and artwork to finalise, this gig will help Honeyfeet get the funds to complete the process! Your help will be invaluable!

Still at the core of the sound are songs about cannibalism, mariticide and various other dark themes, and yet Manchester's finest ethio-trad, folk-hop & barrelhouse-pop exponents have the skill, charm and (frankly) tunes to pull it all together into a joyful, foot-banging sound.

Evoking the afro-funk of Mulatu Atstake, the exuberant folk of Flook, and the blues of Junior Wells without ever sounding contrived or unoriginal, Honeyfeet have in Ríoghnach Connolly one of the most striking front-women on the scene at the moment.

'Seldom has conspicuous greatness been more accessible' - City Life

'One Jools Holland appearance away from runaway success' - Manchester Music Review

Support comes from Alabaster. Alabaster’s cross-disciplinary projects have appeared on Radio 3’s Freakzone and been described as 'quite unlike anything you’ll have heard before' by the Bristol Post. He is a performer, writer and musician who tours internationally and delivers theatrical spoken-word to music audiences, and vice-versa. He involves a range of musicians from across the country, such as John Ellis, Paddy Steer and Rioghnach Connolly in creating his instrumentals, songs and theatrical performances. Two full-length LPs are available – Copernicus (2012) and The Jester (2013) – on Debt Records.

First Chop Brewing Arm is an industrial brewing unit situated in a railway arch off Trinity Way, a 10-minute walk from Deansgate. The brewery is fully licensed and will be offering a selection of its own ales on the night, as well as other refreshments.
