After a show that was a highlight of 2014 Daniel Romano is back at The Prince Albert.
At the end of las year’s festival season DANIEL ROMANO and his band the Trilliums came over to Europe for the first time. After this very successful tour we are happy to announce they will be back in Brighton on 11th June.
Highlights of last tour include performing in the main hall of Paradiso, Amsterdam and doing a show at the awesome boutique festival Into The Great Wide Open. The Amsterdam show was captured on film and can be seen in the trailer for an ongoing documentary project called “I Tried So Hard To Love You”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-Td6ZAzkHY.
DANIEL ROMANO will be returning to Europe with a brand new single “The One That Got Away (Came Back Today)” in early spring. In a nod to Daniel’s constant state of creative output, his label New West Records will release no less than two full-lenght records in 2015: “If I’ve Only One Time Askin” and “Mosey”. These albums will be the follow up to his critically acclaimed record “Come Cry With Me”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssgeij9miJo
Daniel refers to his music as mosey and he is called THE KING OF MOSEY again and again. As he explains: “Mosey is a study in contrasts. There’s glitz and grit, reveling and wallowing, wretchedness and showmanship. Mosey music’s pioneers wore their battered hearts on sequined sleeves. From Bakersfield to Galveston, the legends traded their tragicomic highs and lows for gold records and white Cadillacs. But that was then; the days of Buckaroos, Nudie Suits and various Hanks are over, save for the museum displays. To quote a George Jones title track, “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes?”
Enter DANIEL ROMANO, a songwriter who delivers mosey croonin’ and hard luck storytelling. While references to marquee names like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard are apparent in Romano’s music, the obvious influences certainly don’t demystify his talent. Romano works with equal part authenticity and creativity, and his musical world is rich with archetypes and arch rivals, wry observations and earnest confessions.
