Left With Pictures are a five piece band with an infectious literate English take on songwriting. Their arrangements are a lush orchestral yet surprising blend. Fans of The Devine Comedy or The Leisure Society will definitely be interested. With multiple singers in the band, delivering lyrics of comic self deprecation, modern malaise and yet with a positive sentiment. Their songs spin around piano, guitars, strings, drums, warm synth colours and a whole host of other sounds. They have just recorded a beautiful new album with Wild Beasts producer, Richard formby and I'm happy to report with an advance copy, that it's a belter.
This is their first show in over 6 months and I'm happy to have them headlining WCA number 5...

Mouth 4 Rusty

Mouth 4 Rusty are a duo led by songwriter Matt Rigsby Smith. Over the course of five albums, they have managed to continuously slay me. These are very high quality confessional songs that bring to mind the intimacy of Bonnie Prince Billy and the lyrical approach of Leonard Cohen. That's two pretty big names right there and I don't use them lightly. Their songs are sparsely arranged with acoustic guitar, vocals and occasional textural colours of strings and percussion. Live, they are a fragile and honest presence and I am very happy to welcome them to the warmth of the Harrison stage.

Dave Gerard

Dave Gerard has released an album under the name Gerard and the Watchmen. While he is considering leaving this name behind, he should be very proud of what he has created. He has a voice that is instantly disarming. The above song came on a playlist and Talitha instantly demanded to know who was singing. She declared there and then that this was in the same league as Fleet Foxes or Damien Jurado. I'm inclined to agree. The arrangements are beautifully crafted and Dave produced the record himself. I plan to spend a lot of time in his studio in the coming months so who better to open the night...
