The Great Fire of London, Prophesy and Inferno

After ten years of ominous prophesy, 2nd September 1666 finally brought the cataclysmic fire predicted by astrologers and divines since the return of Charles II. Hear about the the events of the Great Fire: the sacking of the Dutch-held island Terschelling and its destruction; the surreal and disturbing conditions reported by Londoners (including storms of dead, cooked birds); the heroism of England's forgotten King and the philandering of Britain's most famous diarist, Samuel Pepys.
