Dan Haywood Band
https://vimeo.com/132572271
I saw Dan Haywood at The Lexington earlier this year, and was utterly transfixed. He stalked the stage with an intensity and confidence that reminded me of a young Dylan. His band were crisp and tight and yet I could see he was allowing the songs to breathe with his whims. His lyrics are a strange brew, hilarious, confounding and addictive the way he semi-speaks them from his unique voice. Here is a true artist, one who follows his instincts and his own musical trajectory. He previously recorded a 30 song album. He has played with a 12 piece band. He has supported Tallest Man on Earth and Josephine Foster. Despite the fact that most of his recordings and videos depict a rather acoustic gentleman, for this show expect an electric quartet of drums, bass and guitars. To say I am excited about this one is an understatement.
Sam Mumford
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Th-ZX2h0iSk
Never seen someone play the guitar like Sam Mumford (no relation). The guitar as machine to be operated and caressed and detuned. It is a unique and utterly spellbinding approach which has been finely honed over many years of exploration. He also happens to possess a beautiful hushed voice and a singular perspective on songwriting. Check out the song above. And come check him out.
