Bruja
http://www.bruja.co.uk/
London debut from South Yorkshire (Barnsley) wobbly grunge trio. Sweet melodies, thunderous beats and spacious freak outs!
"It's laid back groove, jangly guitars and fuzz rekindles fond memories of Ringo Deathstarr and Giant Drag." Louder Than War
Former Utopia (Damnably)
http://www.damnably.com/former-utopia/
East London trio who meld slowcore wall of noisefuzzed-out solo's
and heavy rock.
"...subtle melodies delivered in an understated baritone vocal coupled with edgy, occasionally heavy guitars. The way the songs creep up on you and develop is reminiscent of that great, often overlooked band Silkworm."Slowthrills
Monster Island (Manchester)
http://monsterisland.co.uk/
pop rox pop band from manchesterton, englandshire
6 self recorded albums of intense and detailed fury, that would make
them a household name if their emailed address had not been blocked by a BBC intern.
smallgang (Damnably)
London-based poppy post-punk three-piece from Essex and Hounslow.
Formed in 2007, toured with Shonen Knife, Bored Spies and supported Dick Dale.
"Second full-length effort 'san' pinballs between Pavement, Wire and The Strokes, with a roll-call of special guests including Bitch Magnet's Jon Fine, Shonen Knife's Ritsuko Taneda and sometime My Bloody Valentine member Jen Macro" NME
Molasses
https://molassesuk.bandcamp.com/album/slagheaps
Two-woman noise from Cambridge.
Echolocation (Leicester)
https://www.facebook.com/echolocationband
For the best part of ten years echolocation has been operating on the fringe of what is acceptable from a pop/rock band. They twist elements of Can, Throbbing Gristle, The Fall and Killing Joke into a huge and surprisingly melodic sound. Spoken word vocals, brass, cellos, accordions, oscillators vie for attention with the epic heavy rhythms and at times discordant guitars.
Acoustic STAGE
MJ Hibbett (Artists Against Success/Peterborough)
http://mjhibbett.co.uk/
Irrepressibly optimistic, quirky-pop pinup boy with no less than 3 super fans.
Formed in 1999, Mercury Prize long-listed, Rolling Stone 'Album of the year', often playing 70 odd shows a year. He did a session on Steve Lamacq, a gig in New York plus had 2 million downloads in 2 weeks for Hey Hey 16k, wrote a pop Opera called 'Dinosaur Planet', now stars at the Edinburgh Festival every year and is has an MA in script-writing.
Capt. Lovelace (Damnably/France)
http://www.damnably.com/portfolio/capt-lovelace-preview-pane/
Otherwise known as Beattie Wood From France via Brighton whose Intuitive folk songs are as refreshingly kooky as they are hooky. Her debut EP */ Preview Pane */ has been championed on BBC 6Music by Tom Ravenscroft.
Splintered Man (Wickford)
https://splinteredman.bandcamp.com/
Acoustic version of this quartet featuring Simon from smallgang with his childhood buddy Alex, both gifted guitarists playing magically intricate parts with rolling impressionistic lyrics. Musically it harks back to Fahey, Chapman & Martyn but with seepage from our times.
Russell & The Wolf Choir (Romford)
http://www.russellandthewolfchoir.com/
Romford's very own Russell & The Wolf Choir sit somewhere on the same 25 Bus as Kevin Devine, Geoff Farina and Billy Bragg, this is straight from the heart music from a long tradition of Essex balladeers.
Passerines
https://www.facebook.com/passerineslondon
Toshi from smallgang and Katie from Crumbling Ghost create a tuneful din somewhere inbetween Low and the Silver Jews.
More Bad Times (Damnably)
Former Utopia's George Gargan and Chiara Meattelli (Rolling Stone/Vanity Fair and now a backing singer in The Pop Group).
Named after a an Ed's Redeeming Qualities song George heard on John Peel and tracked down 17 years later.
They do comedy songs about Italian Reggae, Crazy Trainers, Chilli Linguine and will cover that Peel favourite 'More Bad Times'
5 More acts to be announced
