SHOT BY BOTH SIDES presents...
A spektakular soireé of degeneracy and bloodlust!
London's premier purveyors of arcane, outlandish and fantastical musical delights - launch another sordid spektakular.
Expect a thrilling soundtrack of wonky psych, gritty '60s garage, gnarled folk, freakout jazz, rockabilly, C86 indie and Northern Soul, poetry, stories, free ‘zines, various handouts, humanoid monstrosities, literature/tape exchange, some peculiar visual treats, cakes, a few out-of-the-hat surprises and some sensational live sets from…

THE LODGER (Leeds)
After headline tours of Japan and the U.S., as well as a stint supporting The Long Blondes across Europe, it was only logical that Leeds’ finest would end-up in glitzy Brixton. Their enchanting bedsit-indie splendor came to a head on their recent second album, the wonderful ‘Life Is Sweet’, and this rare London show will be a performance to relish. One of the most joyous pure-pop experiences you’ll bear witness to.
Their music for the wilted generation stirring limbs as much as hearts...direct, intimate, and almost wholly devoid of cynicism - Drowned in Sound
A sense of creeping misery with fantastically catchy tunes - Music OMH
Impossible not to fall in love with - This Is Fake DIY

O CHILDREN (London)
Sure to be one of the highlights at the forthcoming Offset Festival, O Children disregard their previous incarnation as Bono Must Die for altogether murkier pastures. Menacing post-punk textures and angular melodies – complete with brittle synths - abound, suggesting the bone-raw production of Martin Hannett. If their startling sound hasn’t laid waste to all comers by this time next year, then be prepared to eat your own face.
This monochrome quartet play post punk to skulk gothic hallways to… a set of haunting nu-grave…as far as promising starts go, the future looks black – Loud & Quiet
Sometimes you should believe the hype: an indie Goliath of a singer switches vocally between Elvis Presley and Ian Curtis at the drop of a mic stand, and a ragtag of musicians combine melody with aggression to post punk perfection – The New Thing

LA SHARK (London)
Fast becoming something of a cult, La Shark’s erudite ‘riddle-pop’ and psychedelic neo-skiffle is a giddy concoction. Glorious labyrinthine pop moments that refuse to be pinned-down, complete with rolling pianos and dramatic flourishes. There’s precious few that can match the ambition – and the gleeful abandon – of these New Cross upstarts.

JONNY COLA & THE A-GRADES (London)
The brainchild of ex-Luxembourg maestro Alex Potterill (the Eno of London’s bedsit underworld), who continues his quest to create ‘pop music, quiet/loud reality filtered through gin, projected out on a series of mirrors’. After the collapse of the perennially underrated ‘bourg, he enlisted new recruits to the cause (including members of The Rocks) and carved-out stirring, electro-flecked, glam-tinged dram-pop. Mission accomplished.
