An Evening With SHEP'S BANJO BOYS

0MANCHESTER: Forum Hall
PWednesday 26th November, 2008
N7:30pm

Event information

Who were the band that played on “The Comedians” TV show in the 1970’s? The answer is, of course, SHEP'S BANJO BOYS!

Now the group are back on stage, performing round the corner from where Manchester’s GOLDEN GARTER Nightclub opened in 1968 - the venue where Shep’s Banjo Boys started their career, performing more than 1,000 shows as the resident supporting act for the visiting top-of-the-bill variety stars of the day.

And it was the Golden Garter where Shep’s got spotted for the hit Granada TV series "THE COMEDIANS" - which lead to them appearing before Royalty, cutting records, touring abroad and performing 13 shows a week for 6 months with Mike Reid, Bernard Manning & Charlie Williams in a stage show of The Comedians at the LONDON PALLADIUM.

To celebrate the 40th. Anniversary of the band’s professional debut, SHEP'S BANJO BOYS - still featuring most of the original musicians – will be live on stage at The Forum Hall, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M22 5RX for one night only on Wednesday 26th. November 2008 @ 8 p.m.
