Event information

WINDMILL (London)
WIndmill’s appearance at the (ahem!) Windmill is preceded by a CV that has seen Matthew Thomas Dillon and his band share bills with The National, Smashing Pumpkins, Vampire Weekend and Lightspeed Champion.
His critically acclaimed debut LP 'Puddle City Racing Lights' is set to be re-released by Melodica in March and is to be followed by a US release on the fine independent, Friendly Fire label later in the year.
Expect high, pained vocals to be curdled by cosy, piano-lit melodies complete with backing band. Windmill will challenge and charm in equal abundance with his tales of asthmatics, fashion houses and boarding lounges.
The boy from Buckinghamshire treads the same ground as Mercury Rev and Arcade Fire, but his style is utterly his own. - The Guardian
An exquisite and imaginative London talent, Windmill combines star-gazing and shoe-gazing without a hint of mediocre middle-ground… - BBC

ARMS (Brooklyn, NY)
Inspired by a love of 'sad/weird/insular genius types' like Neil Young, Stephin Merritt, and David Byrne, Arms' music cloaks catchy tunes in fuzzy, echo-laden production and 26-year=old multi-instrumentalist Todd Goldstein's melodramatic, crooned vocals. A true one-man band, Goldstein recorded Kids Aflame, which was released in the UK this summer, over a period of three years in various apartments across Brooklyn.
Acclaim for 'Kids Aflame' (Melodic) includes:
A fine debut album matching both the romantic streak of Conor Oberst and multi-instrumental sophistication of Sufjan Stevens - --Q Magazine (**** 'Recommended')
Arms' music is lo-fi but lovely and very, very good. There's truly not a bad song on here. 'Kids Aflame' rocks, shudders, weeps, and smiles as you reach to hit 'play' again. --The Guardian

RIVAL CONSOLES (Leicester)
..is, along with Aparatec, a musical alias created by Ryan L. West of Leicester. Influenced by Impressionists like Debussy and by modern electronic artists such as Autechre and Squarepusher, he has created a signature sound - a playful and sometimes brutal mix of IDM/acid beats and emotive string arrangements. It's music that touches all senses and impossible to predict from a man on a mission to create sounds that haven;t been heard before.
The 'Decadent EP' is available now on lovely 10-inch vinyl on Erased Tapes.
'Two words: Electro Genius.'
