Join us at St Giles' for a musical and cinematic treat! Alfred Hitchcock's 1929 thriller, 'Blackmail', will be screened and brought to life with live music by Camberwell Community Choir and 8-piece jazz band.
Set at the height of roaring 1920's London, Blackmail tells the story of Alice White (Anna Ondra), the daughter of a Chelsea shopkeeper. After dinner ends in a quarrel with her boyfriend, Scotland Yard detective Frank Webber (John Longden), Alice finds herself at the centre of her very own crime scene. But with her boyfriend on the case, will Alice's secret stay hidden and does anyone else know about the events of that fateful night..?
Period costumes are encouraged and a bar is available. Doors open at 7pm and the film will start at approximately 7.30pm - 7.45pm with a running time of 80 minutes plus a 20 minute interval. Families are welcome but the film is rated PG and some scenes may be unsuitable for younger children. Tickets bought online (limited number) at wegottickets.com will have spaces reserved in church but we are unable to reserve any other seats in advance. Tickets on the door will be on a first come, first served basis so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
For those looking to extend their evening...a 'Speakeasy Cabaret' will take place afterwards in the crypt. Tickets are £5 on the door and the party will go on 'till late...
Any funds generated from this event will go towards St Giles' organ restoration and our event is being held with the help of the Friends of St Giles' Charity. Find out more at:
