Laurel Canyon Music are proud to present a night of Americana and Folk as part of Independent Music Day. The event will be held in one of South West London's newest premier music venues and will showcase some of our favourite independent rising stars and live performers
Fred's House: Our headliners are the multi award-winning Cambridge band. Mixing elements of Folk, Pop, Country, Classic Rock and West Coast with a definite vintage feel to their music, echoing the 70's but creating a fresh new sound that is very much part of now. Among their many influences are bands such as Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Swell Season and C.S.N.Y.
With over 500 gigs under their belt, the band are creating quite a stir on the live circuit and gaining a reputation for their stunning and energetic shows across the UK. Gaining a following wherever they go, their fans or 'Housemates', claim their music is addictive and come to show after show. It's easy to fall in love with their uplifting harmonies and infectious melodies. They released their much anticipated debut album 'Bonnie and Clyde' in April 2014 to critical acclaim grabbing 4 and 5 star reviews across the board as well as emphatic press.
Festival appearances include the main stage at the Acoustic Festival of Britain, Cambridge Folk Festival and Bestival among many others. The band have been main support for the likes of Eddi Reader, The Wonderstuff, The Kast Off Kinks (with original Kinks drummer Mick Avory), Lucy Rose, The Shires, Phil Beer (Show of Hands), Ward Thomas and many more. Fred's House have often had airplay on BBC 6Music, Amazing Radio, BBC Radio Wales, as well as having been invited to perform live for BBC Introducing and Radio 2 DJ Bob Harris' Under the Apple Tree' sessions.
Fronting the band is real-life couple and song-writing duo Griff Jameson and Vikki Gavin, who voices blend to create a beautiful and powerful sound, along with bassist Gafyn Jameson (Griff's brother) also singing a third part harmony and lead guitarist Lachlan Golder. Fred's House released their second full length studio album 'Faultlines' in 2016 with producer Neil James Rodgers (Captain, Lonely the Brave) who produced their first album Bonnie & Clyde. New music is promised soon.

Forty Elephant Gang: If 'Squeeze' and 'The Divine Comedy' had an East London Americana love child... it would be our next show stealing band. Very apt really as they are named after a very famous and successful 19th-century all-female London crime syndicate who specialised in shoplifting and other crimes of theft. Andrew White (Guitar / Vocals), Sean Mannion (Mandolin / Backing Vocals), James Bachmann (Guitar / backing Vocals) and Douglas Cameron (Bass) are a rousing and innovative guitar, bass and mandolin wielding four-piece. Their songs relay tales of heartbreak, misdeeds and revelry, presented with rich harmonies on a textural musical canvas. Blending genres from Folk, Acoustic, Americana, Bluegrass, Rock and Pop and tipping the cap to greats like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Radiohead, Punch Brothers et al, forging their own very unique sound.

Kadia: Hailing from sunny Bournemouth, Kadia perform a mixture of traditional folk music, Irish session tunes, original material and contemporary covers along with the occasional joke, multiple stories and general chatter during their shows. They have made a name for themselves locally for their creative arrangements of traditional music also gaining plaudits for their unique takes on more modern contemporary music. Kadia are Chris Bailey (Guitar/Vocal), Lee Cuff (Cello/Vocal) and David Hoyland (Percussion/Mandolin/Vocal)
Kadia's debut album, East of Alexandria made it on to the Telegraph's 2015 'Folk Album of the Year' list with tracks heard on various local BBC radio stations and the band have been invited to attend many private events and performed at nationally recognised festivals and sites such as Cambridge Folk Festival, Wickham and Larmer Tree Gardens.

Hattie Whitehead: Inspired by the earlier sounds of folk artists such as James Taylor, Nick Drake, John Martyn and Joni Mitchell, London based singer-songwriter Hattie Whitehead takes influence from both old and new music, drawing upon the eclectic range of musical styles she has been surrounded by throughout life. Distinguished by the purity of her vocal tones and crystal clear delivery, her experience of playing, singing and listening to folk, jazz, soul, alternative and many more genres has led Hattie to develop a style that is melodic, soulful and heartfelt. The release of her debut EP 'Home' prompted radio play from a host of radio stations and a sell-out launch gig at London's St Pancras Old Church. Highlights of Hattie's journey include performances at top UK festivals such as Latitude, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Field Day and Cambridge Folk Festival, support for up and coming and established artists such as Howard Rose and Beth Rowley and in more recent months
winning third prize in Glastonbury's Emerging Talent Competition. Now working on her next release, Hattie's eagerness to push boundaries with her music and cross genres has led her to work with producer Still. Together they are working on tracks that hold Hattie's folk roots whilst gesturing towards a brand new, fresh and powerful sound.

Hannah White: Hannah White is a singer songwriter, an ambassador of independent art of all kinds and a feminist. Following an incident in which her status as young, single-mother of two children of two different men led to the serious accusation by officials of drug trafficking, Hannah was compelled to write a collection of songs about being a woman. Despite her feminist credentials, Hannah is adamant that the album, 'Whose Side Are You On?' is not just political rhetoric. There are certainly no passages claiming right or wrong either way. For Hannah, this deeply personal collection of songs has been written and offered out to the world, simply to start conversation.
Hannah has been invited on to BBC regional radio shows all over the country performing live and talking about her music. Her latest single 'I'll Make You Strong' has been played on BBC Radio 2, Amazing Radio, BBC London, BBC Merseyside, BBC Manchester, BBC Kent, BBC Essex and more. The artist has enjoyed glowing reviews from publications nationwide and she was recently invited to perform for Whispering Bob Harris an 'Under The Apple Tree' Session in his Oxfordshire studio. Hannah's growing following and demand has led to a series of tour dates across the country in the summer of this year.
