“Goodbye, Faithful Kingdom! is gaining a granite reputation for presenting meaningful and progressive underground acts” – not our words but the words of popular music website Flavorpill and it’s not only them that are peppering us with praise, webzine Subba-Cultcha calls our night “refreshingly different”.
We are very excited that the wonderful Glissando will be headlining our 10th Goodbye, Faithful Kingdom! This show will form part of a UK tour on the back of the success of their new, and very beautiful, album 'With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea'. Glacial instrumentalists The Monroe Transfer and electro-acoustic pioneer Brassica will be supporting and Max from forward thinking record label Tartaruga will be on the decks.
GLISSANDO

Leeds band Glissando embark on another assault of the UK. This tour will feature (alongside the usual Richard and Elly); Paul Elam (guitar/percussion), Sophie Green (violin) and Lauren Smith (cello).
Some words about Glissando's new album 'With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea':
"Press releases rarely get it right (One Night Only are "Britain's hottest new band" apparently) but the advice accompanying Leeds duo Glissando's second outing that it "should be listened to at night" couldn't be closer to the truth. Highlight 'Floods' for example, a 14 minute ambient epic of dark piano keys, haunting strings and resonating chants, is no summer jam. It does, however, have the kind of atmosphere that can captivate and relax in equal measure- never before has tranquility sounded so urgent. While track lengths of over 10 minutes may fail to hold the attention of the ADHD sufferers among us, with patience it plays like a majestic dream. And it's one you'll never want to wake up from."
NME 7/10
"This record completely took me over for the whole 70 minutes. I was hanging on every chord waiting for their next move."
Comfort Comes 9/10
"Low meets Mogwai, only with fragments of Regina Spektor at her most restrained. Exceptional."
RockFood 5/5
"the more sedate moments culled from Set Fire to Flames back catalogue are an underlying influence as are both the measured and mercurial montages cast into the public eye by early career Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black Emperor" - Losing Today
THE MONROE TRANSFER
http://www.myspace.com/electricoldwirenoise
The Monroe Transfer are a UK-based, 7-piece group, making beautifully detailed and passionately executed instrumental music on a variety of instruments. Forthcoming releases include a unique CD & DVD double-pack of ‘I Dreamt I Was A Hammer And Everything Was Glass’, featuring animated film by Gemma Burditt to be released on Organ Grinder Records.
"At their most beautiful they’re able to lightly brush the places that so few other instrumental acts can...it’s exciting when a band that features not a single singer is able to take you away to someplace other than the here and now on fabulous waves of orchestral sound. The Monroe Transfer, at their most beautiful, are that band." - Drowned in Sound
BRASSICA
http://www.myspace.com/brassica
Brassica is Michael Anthony Wright, making decisions and music on his own, sometimes reluctantly, but always with interesting results. Working with found sounds, multiple instruments, and electronic technology, the music of Brassica suggests a clear love of the musicality of sound itself, and beyond this a sense of how to apply structure and (dis)order to these sounds, in order to produce a compelling and emotional affect, often rare in this kind of music.
Having released music under various guises, and for various labels, Brassica released a debut full length CD through Tartaruga Records in the summer of 2008. Entitled microvictories, this release is limited to 200 hand assembled copies, and won't be around for very long.
