GRAHAM HUMPHREYS’ TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION

Graham Humphreys is an illustrator and graphic designer based in London, who gained internationally renown when he did artwork for the ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ and ‘The Evil Dead’ movie posters.
Sim Branaghan\'s \'British Film Posters - An Illustrated History\' (BFI Publishing, 2006), suggests \"Graham... has some claim to be the last great name among Britain\'s film poster artists” – and he’s not wrong.

THE EVENING’S RUNNING ORDER:

The Mysteries of the Chateau de De (1929)
Director Man Ray
R/T 27 mins

A rare chance to see a magnificent, mysterious slice of avant-garde cinema by one of history’s most innovative artists, Man Ray.

INTERMISSION

• Live conversation between BILLY CHAINSAW & GRAHAM HUMPHREYS discussing the artist’s work and influences + audience Q & A

INTERMISSION

• Night Train To Terror (1985)
R/T 98 mins
Directors: John Carr, Phillip Marshak, Tom McGowan, Jay Schlossberg-Cohen, Greg Tallas

Humphrey’s chooses a personal favorite from his extensive film collection: “I confess, I was unaware of this film until last year - during a conversation about the \'worst films ever made\'. The description of God and Satan harvesting souls on a night train, involving stop motion creatures, a \'Death Club\', Nazis, Satanism and er... New Romantic breakdancing, proved irresistible.
Throw in John Phillip Law (Pygar from \'Barbarella\'), Cameron Mitchell (of the long running TV Western series \'The High Chaparral\' and more than a smattering of Mario Bava films) plus Ferdy Mayne (\'The Fearless Vampire Killers\') and it\'s a winner! Cheap, gory, transgressive, and packed with the unexpected, I am delighted to introduce this film to anybody with a strong stomach. Far from being one of the worst films ever made, \'Night Train To Terror\' deserves urgent reappraisal!\"
