Dana and Susan Robinson are two guitar-playing, banjo-frailing, fiddle-sawing and harmony-singing interpreters of the American experience.
Their unique blend of contemporary songwriting and traditional Appalachian music brings to their performances a deep understanding of America’s musical heritage. Since 1994 Dana has released ten critically acclaimed albums working with such producers as Grammy-award winning Bil VornDick and Pete Sutherland. Dana and Susan’s last two CDs, American Hornpipe and Big Mystery, went to number one and number three respectively on the Folk DJ charts with two top ten singles. Their latest recording The Angel’s Share is a distillation of traditional and contemporary folk and its spare instrumentation allows the Robinsons' rich vocals and stories to rise above the mix. Made without a rhythm section, the record represents a conscious move toward simplicity.
