BACKSTREETS IX....
The 9th Backstreets on the 9th day of 2009. Forget detoxing, come to the Windmill, keep the party going and celebrate this mystical event.

WHISKYCATS (Manchester)
Quite literally unlike anything you have heard before. They fuse
elements of Latin, disco, funk, folk and jazz to rock to produce a
unique sound which can only be described as PARTY music.
They've played in front of 40,000 at Fruitstock sharing the stage (and cigars) with Arrested Development, and will force even the most stubborn of music fans to shake their booty. The Stool Pigeon described a live gig of theirs as, 'inciting a near riot with their sultry, fresh-fried funk.'

WINTER OLYMPICS (London)
Inspired by the DIY dignity of Dischord, the daft funk of DFA and the non-ironic, no-nonsense stadium-slaying standards of Def Leppard, they are not like the other bands. Live, the Olympics are an unlikely riot: all loose loud guitars, warehouse sized rave keys and lion-lunged love songs about girls, work and spaceships. They play like five IT guys who happen to be hiding The Stooges inside, they sound like a bomb going off inside a tiny radio.

ALPHABET BACKWARDS (Oxford)
Backstreets favourites Alphabet Backwards are back. Since they last appeared, they've played Truck Festival in Oxford, the In The City Festival in Manchester and appeared on radio stations across the country. Their poppy-folky songs still can't fail to bring a smile to your face.

Straight down the line good time rock from this band making their Windmill debut. Fans of AC/DC and Led Zeppelin won't be disappointed.
