Event information

Four excellent singer-songwriters head to the multi award winning Green Note in Camden for a unique and intimate ‘Songwriters In The Round’ concert.

Hosted by Laurel Canyon Music together with their friends at the wonderful Music Makers Festival and fan favourite Vin’s Vin Night In/Vin’s Veg Out, this night of top quality music includes special guests Albert Man, Franc Cinelli, Michael Baker and Vin Goodwin, who will be also the MC for the night

Albert Man:

Praised by BBC Head of Music as a “brilliant singer-songwriter,” Albert Man is an “insightful artist to watch” according to Pledge Music’s managing editor Matt Conner. He has established himself as one of the more interesting songwriters on the London gig circuit with avid support from RockShot Magazine, who compared his songs to that of “Ben Folds in verse, wit and chord changes”. The award-winning, Manchester-born singer-songwriter plays both solo and with a full band, writing melodic pop songs described by Fresh On The Net as “sweet piano led shenanigans that come over like the lovechild of Billy Joel and Adam Levine”.

Albert released his eleven-track, self-produced album "Cheap Suit" in 2016, receiving airplay on both FUBAR Radio and BBC radio. The album won the “Best Independent Album” award on the Alternative Friday blog in 2016 and was described as “a wonderful, wonderful album” by BBC presenter Ady Dayman. Two songs from this album were also chosen for Tom Robinson's Fresh Faves. Albert had a sold out EP launch at the famous and historic St Pancras Old Church in London and the live recording from the night has been released as a live album, “Live At St Pancras Old Church”.

Albert featured on Best Of British Unsigned as “one to watch” for 2017 saying they “love Albert's sound”. This was swiftly followed up with him being chosen as their featured artist of the day with presenter Matt Graveling saying “I think Albert Man could be in with a cheeky little shout for best unsigned male in this year's Unsigned Music Awards 2017.” Albert has been described as “one of the most genuine, hard-working artists on the live music scene with a steely work ethic”.

Franc Cinelli:

Bucking the trend with his free-wheeling alternative folk Franc Cinelli is the songwriters’ songwriter. From up-tempo torch songs to blues laden road journals and love-struck serenades to defiant, prison outlaw ballads; Franc has carved his own musical path. Franc Cinelli’s latest album 'The Marvel Age' shows an artist continuing a determined road, not afraid to take chances and experiment. At its core this is a folk record, but its use of rhythms, the twists and turns in the arrangements with their vibrant colours and haunting undertones, create something much more. It has received critical acclaim including Folk Radio UK’s coveted album of the month slot and Resonance FM’s Tin Can Review Top Ten Albums of the year along with a score of fantastic reviews in the UK and Franc’s native Italy.

The extensive 12-month tour promoting his last record 'I Have Not Yet Begun To Fight', which gave birth to this new album, saw him playing shows across UK, Europe and North America. Including sold out shows in New York and London, along with a televised performance at the Blue Note in Milan and two shows at the Royal Albert Hall. He’s gathered support from BBC Radio 2 to WFUV in New York and everywhere in between. Franc Cinelli was born in Rome and grew up in London since the age of four. His introduction to music came from his mother’s record collection : ”Springsteen, The Police, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd & Bob Marley were the big hitters” he comments.

Michael Baker:

A regular busker, not only on the streets of London, but all over Europe including the French Alps where Michael’s mother is from, Michael is no stranger to hard graft. Living in a van for 2 ½ year to enable him to afford to record his debut album ‘Dust & Bone’. The support for the album has come far and wide including an Independent Video Premier, BBC Introducing London plays, sold out supports for Sarah Jarosz at Union Chappell and David Ramirez at O2 Islington and packed-out Great Escape full band show. Michael is going into record album number two ’Salt’ in November and has three collaborative ep’s lined up for release in early 2018.
