What do you get when you combine funky, melodic hard rock with an extremely soulful female voice whose music encompasses virtually every musical influence from the rock, pop, and soul genres? You get London’s very own Space Elevator. You get instantly hooked in by the catchiness of the sound and then totally reeled in when the vocals start. Though stylistically derivative of numerous musical types, they’have a unique approach to making hard rock music.
The most entrancing aspect is easily the voice of The Duchess. Equal parts of unlikely influences (I hear some Benatar, Aretha, Celine Dion, and even Lady Miss Kier of Deee-Lite) in this incredibly powerful voice, with such stunning control on top of that power. Able to take on the continued genre hopping without showing any signs of being unable to handle it. Space Elevator create their own sound with a mish mash of flavours, a brilliant mix of so much diversity that there’s bound to be something for everyone with a keen ear for melodic music. They thrive onstage, with their songs geared towards having a good time and celebrating their music.
We are thrilled to have them play at The Haven Club for the first time.
