Event information

The Big Comfy Bookshop proudly presents the award winning acoustic evening \'Comfy & Acoustic\'.
Intimate performances from the best UK (and beyond) musicians covering folk, Americana, singer-songwriters and roots

Fred\'s House
\"Fred\'s House are a very popular band who have built up a significant following, and they were quickly bringing the house down\" Maverick Magazine

Fred’s House make summery 70’s West Coast inspired folk/rock but have their own distinctively fresh sound that is very much part of now. This group of musicians have the rare ability to sweep you away with their gorgeous three part harmonies, moving lyrics, infectious melodies and uplifting grooves. Among their many influences are bands such as Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles.

The band scooped the prestigious Syd Barrett Pride of Cambridge Award at the NMG Awards 2017 and are touring China as part of the Nanjing International Jazz and World Music Festival this year. Having released their critically acclaimed second album Faultlines, extensively toured the UK and played some big festivals, their outstanding and energetic live shows are gathering them rave reviews from all corners of the globe. Fred’s House are very excited that their third album will be out later this year. If you need a dose of the \"feel-good factor\", this is the band for you!

Zoe Wren
Zoe Wren was the youngest performer to play the main stage at Folkstock Festival when she was just 16. She is now a recipient of the 2017 PRS Lynsey de Paul Prize for emerging female singer-songwriters, and has been chosen for music agency Talentbanq\'s roster. Her new EP Gold and Smoke, called \'refreshingly bold\' by Fatea magazine, is based on contemporary re-tellings of traditional folk stories, and will be released in February 2018 with Folkstock Records. Her debut EP Pandora\'s Box was released in 2014 and her previous single \'Nothing to See\' received airplay on BBC Radio 2 on the Bob Harris show.

Threaded
Threaded is the \'impressive talent\' (Folk Radio UK), of Jamie Rutherford (guitar and vocals), Ning- ning Li (violin) and Rosie Bott (clarinet). They have released two albums to great acclaim: Fair Winds & Following Seas (2017) and their debut album \'of what we spoke\' in 2015. Both albums have been produced by Joe Broughton (The Urban Folk Quartet) and their original music reflects on places they have been, experiences they have had, spontaneous inspirations, little stories and poetry collaborations. They want nothing more than for the audience to immerse themselves in the moment and take their own story from the music!

\'They are to be greatly applauded for the entirely self-penned compositions that they have come up with, and for the most impressive breadth of style they demonstrate.\' (R2 Rock \'n\' Reel)
