The Flaming Stars

Since their first EP in March 1995 The Flaming Stars have released seven studio albums, gigged extensively in the UK, played shows in the USA, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Greece, Portugal and Japan and recorded eight sessions for John Peel. They’ve never split up, sold out or followed trends. In 1996 one member left and another joined, and that’s been the only line-up change in their entire career.

“The Stars don’t fit into any handy, marketable pop-profile... They’re not Britpop, that’s for sure. Nor post-pop, drone-core, lo-fi, heavy psyche or folk-actuelle. Just good, I suppose. Is that any use to you, consumer?” John Peel

“Their long-standing association with the now-notorious Toe Rag Studios lends them shadowy cool. Vastly underrated... Criminally good.”
UNCUT (UK)

“Fuses garage punk and spaghetti western twang with a bit of Tom Waits thrown in for good measure – a mix which has gained them a sizeable cult following both at home and in Europe.” Music Week (UK)

“L’ambience 3V (Velvets / Vega / Vegas)” Dig It (France)

“In their native England, The Flaming Stars are garage rock royalty.” The Boston Phoenix (USA)

“Simply cool” Rolling Stone (Germany)

“The singer gives the impression of being drunk” Isaac Hayes,(guest singles reviewer), Time Out (UK)

Bridport Dagger

“Swinging beats tinged with rockabilly riffs and moody Orbison-esque vocals” – ID

“Harry Dean Stanton is one of my favourite records of 2016” – James Endeacott (Soho Radio)

“Best Discovery” – The Observer (Festival review)

“What happens when you write a song after drinking a bottle of Sailor Jerry, stagger into an all-night tattoo parlour and leave with a topless girl in a martini glass etched over your heart” – NME

KAJIKI VOLT - "Post punk through a surf guitar / garage punk lens, like a more frenetic Gun Club via Magazine, with shades of Gallon Drunk and the sorely missed Penthouse on some tunes... Others have more of a late '60s U.S. psych-punk-pop feel, it’s all compelling stuff. Great tunes interesting arrangements, played with conviction. Fab." - Dublin Castle. "Kajiki Volt impressed with some novel interpretations of Garage Punk (was one of them in Silverfish?)" - Ian Canty, louderthanwar
