Trumpeter Sean Gibbs leads a 5 piece playing original music, interweaving jazz with influences from blues, rock and more, as part of their Arts Council funded album launch tour.
Fervour is a new band led by esteemed trumpeter and composer Sean Gibbs (known for his work with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Young Pilgrims, Calum Gourlay Big Band, Birmingham Jazz Orchestra and many more), featuring some of the UK’s most exciting young musicians. They play original music which draws on influences from across the jazz tradition alongside the earthy grooves of blues, rock and more. They were awarded arts council funding to record their debut album, ‘Taking Flight’, at the renowned Real World Studios. This gig will be part of their album launch tour, presenting this well honed music live, where its impact is at its greatest and most direct.
Peter Bacon (of London Jazz News) - “When I spot trumpeter Sean Gibbs in a band my spirits lift; I know there will be spot on ensemble playing and expertly-turned, beautifully toned solos” Herald Scotland (from a review of a concert by the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra) - “One of the evening’s star performers… bold, mischievous improvising that mightn’t have been out of place in the Ellington orchestra” Tony Dudley-Evans (artistic adviser to Jazzlines and programme adviser to Cheltenham Jazz Festival) - \"Beautiful tone and inventive soloing\"
