White Wall Cinema - Brighton's pop up cinema project, returns with it's next Secret Movie Club. www.whitewallcinema.co.uk

White Wall Cinema screens a variety of alternative, fun, interesting, unusual, cult, and all time classic films in intimate locations around Brighton! Our "Secret Movie Club" project takes a movie you most likely haven't seen before (but will instantly love) and keeps the identity of the movie a secret, only revealing which film you are watching when the opening credits roll. Every time we do these events we get such phenomenal feedback from you guys. It's incredibly rewarding to have people say to us they had never even heard of the movie we screened for them, but that it is now instantly among their favourites! So what is our next mystery movie?!

"Prohibition Soda Pop"
Our event title "Prohibition Soda Pop" is your first clue as to the identity of this movie, which is a real gem! A beautiful piece of filmmaking with fantastic cinematography, and one of the most astonishing lead actress performances of all time (we can't stress that point enough), it's a forgotten classic which will charm you right from the off. It is one of those rare movies that totally surpasses the quality of it's source material, weaving a remarkably humorous & tender tale that is easily better than the book it's based on. The director takes a distinctly contemporary approach whilst somehow managing to pay homage to classic cinema and indeed the person that arguably created modern cinema as we know it, even consulting with said person on the production. A bona fide cinema historian, the film's director could be regarded as something of an American Francois Truffaut, both because there is an obvious influence of the French New Wave in this director's work, but also because this director's relationship with cinema's history echoes the type of work done by Truffaut, most notably Truffuat's work and interviews with Hitchcock. It's a can't miss classic by a director of real note who is often sadly (& rather strangely) overlooked! We won't tell you the film's Rotten Tomatoes score as it might help give the film's identity away, but suffice to say this one is in the 90% or above bracket...

Intrigued? Then grab a ticket for Sunday April 29th. The film will be preceded by a short introduction discussing the film, there will free popcorn on offer & everyone gets a commemorative poster of the movie to take home, plus the bar will be open so you can fully enjoy the fantastic (and rather appropriate to the film) surroundings of the Proud Cabaret Brighton, 6.30pm til 9.30pm! Keep your eyes peeled as we unveil more clues across the coming weeks and days but we advise you to get tickets asap as numbers are limited and we are sure this is one you are going to love. As ever we are keeping tickets cheap at only £6, just so as to cover costs for the event, so grab yours now!
