BAND 2
Tim Ries has been an in-demand saxophonist on the New York jazz scene and education circles for more than 3 decades. A busy composer, producer, teacher, bandleader and sideman, Ries has performed or recorded with jazz greats: Donald Byrd, Phil Woods, Maynard Ferguson, Jack DeJohnette, Hank Jones, Joe Henderson, Tony Bennett, Louie Bellson, Maria Schneider and many others. He has also played with rock, pop and Motown icons: Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and Four Tops, Michael Jackson, Paul Simon, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Rod Stewart among others. In 1999, Ries was enlisted to join the Rolling Stones (which he describes as “the gig of a lifetime”), playing in the horn section as well as contributing keyboard.
Tim’s Rolling Stones Project recordings were released in 2005 and 2008, and feature an array of international talent, including Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood. He also seeks out a range of “fusion” music, for example combining jazz with Roma musicians in Budapest, The East Gipsy Band or flamenco in Spain. He has a new ensemble called Universal Spirits which is a diverse collective of singers, dancers and musicians from around the globe, performing concerts and working with students to create peace through music and foster local ambassadors for peace with the Alliance for Peacebuilding in D.C.
All Music calls Bernard Fowler “One of the busiest vocalists in pop music with arguably the most diverse résumé ever.” His credits include work with Bootsy Collins, Herbie Hancock, Phillip Glass, Public Image Ltd., Herb Alpert, Yoko Ono, Johnny Rotten and hundreds of others. Bernard has been working with the Rolling Stones since 1988 providing background vocals and percussion on 14 albums and every tour, as well as working on solo projects with each Rolling Stone and produced 2 LPs for Ronnie Wood.
Bernard’s second solo album, The Bura, released in 2015, has been described as a heady cocktail of rock and soul. Mostly recently he has travelled around the world with the Celebrating David Bowie Tour together with former Bowie musicians such as Earl Slick.
