It all began for Mick Flavin back in the \'50\'s as a young boy, growing up in humble beginnings in Ballinamuck, County Longford. He started listening to music which was mostly, Rock n Roll, Elvis, Buddy Holly and all the Greats of the time. Then one of his family got some Hank Williams Records and Mick got hooked on Country Music.

When he finished his education at the Technical School in Ballinamuck he got the opportunity to become part of a band called “The Brightlights”, this lasted for two years. In 1974 Mick started to play in pubs and in 1986 his friend Declan Nerney persuaded him to record a Cassette Tape “Introducing Mick Flavin”. The following year as a result of this recording Mick signed a contract with Harmac Records for 2 LP\'s. In 1987 he put a professional band together and took to the road thus was the start of the “Travellin\' To Flavin” era. In 1989 Mick changed record labels and moved to Ritz Records. This was a very important development in his career as it promoted him at International level. It also brought many offers of television and major country festival platforms both in Ireland and England

Mick had many highlights in his career but some stand out more than others: In 1989 he got the opportunity to play the Wembley Country Music Festival. On the same bill was Waylon Jennings, Tammy Wynette, Boxcar Willie and one of his Idols Buck Owens

2005 Mick became the 1st Irish Country Artist to be nominated for the CMA Global Artist award. This is an award for Artists outside of America who promote Country Music. Whilst he didn\'t receive the award, been one of the eight nominees worldwide recognised the contribution Mick had made to country music on a global scale.

In 2006 Mick took a group of 160 people to the U.S., where they visited Graceland, Dollywood and Nashville where he got to sing on the Grand Ole Opry with his friend George Hamilton 1V. This was a dream come through for Mick and will stay with him for the rest of his life.

2012 seen Mick & Band travel down under to Australia for a month long tour. They even played on the island of Tasmania.

In 2016 Mick was the 1st person in Ireland to receive the Irish Country Music Living Legend Hall Of Fame award.

Recently Mick has been nominated for the Simon Community Longford Person Of The Year. He has been nominated for this award as a result of his charitable works in the community. In the past month he has been honoured by Longford County Council for his role in getting more recognition for his native County.

Not many artists get to play the circuit for 31years and still keep receiving awards but Mick has and it\'s a testament to the talent this man has.
