Fring\'s unique 13 C church (All Saints) will host a great English folk tale \"As Free As The Waters That Flow Through The Fen -
The True Story of Hereward The Wake\" on July 9 at 7pm.
Written, composed and performed by The Penland Phezants -
From the magical folk tales of Hereward\'s early career to the historic defence of Ely and the rearguard victories against all odds in fenland and greenwood, poet Gareth Calway\'s narrative is based closely on the honest Latin chronicles compiled by 12C monks and gives full rein to Hereward\'s Freeborn English (Robin Hood) humour and derring do. With music composed and performed by Welsh Romany-influenced harpist Vanessa Wood-Davies and a sequence of new real life Robin Hood ballads written by Gareth Calway and Andy Wall. The trio\'s performance of these is a perfect fit for this classic English folk tale.
