It’s also Ange PIBE’s birthday which means there’ll be extra celebrations, so come on down to cover your face in chocolate eggs, cake, Jager shots and balloons!
SAT MARCH 28th LINE UP:
***PAUL STEEL***
www.myspace.com/paulsteel
This 21-year-old makes music from another world, a bit Brian Wilson, a bit Beatles, a bit Elvis Costello – if there is going to be a second coming of the Beach Boys then this is it.
(and that’s praise coming from Brian Wilson’s collaborators – not just us!)
His debut April & I is about Steel’s imaginary childhood friend and the trials and tribulations of growing up. But not in the grimy Arctic Monkeys way.
The Guardian’s Paul Lester described Steel as the antithesis of this with lush harmonies, orchestral swells and intricate piano and guitars.
“Steel’s best moments sound a bit like Queen meeting the Beach Boys in the bedroom of a 15-year-old boy wearing Batman pyjamas" Sean Lennon
"I raise the goblet of pop high in the air and toast thee venerable knight that conquers melody and harmony like a dragon slayer.” Nelson Bragg (Brian Wilson acolyte)
***MODERNAIRE***

This electro pop trio describe themselves as having "midnight symphonies of revenge underpinned by drums of war" and are championed by everyone from Radio 1 to 6 Music.
"Modernaire’s sleek sound is something of an angular wonder; a twisting electro beast capable of tempting and tormenting in equal measure. There’s a beautiful ennui to the vocals and a silken shiver to the music, yet it still manages to be enticingly siren-esque. Put simply, it’s intoxicatingly addictive stuff."
Chris Long, BBC Manchester
***SIBRYDION***
www.myspace.com/sibrydion
These Wild West fanatics from Wales are described by The Guardian like an ultra-melodic Crazy Horse with their appealing blend of bubblegum, country and mariachi pop
Campire Classics is their first English language album and they’re gracing our night fresh from playing at the ICA.
Sibrydion (Welsh for "whispers") sound like Super Furry Animals meeting the Last Shadow Puppets – which makes sense since brother Osh and Mei – whose previous single Racing Birds was so good that Mark Radcliffe played it on the air twice in a row – have contributed to Gruff Rhys’s solo albums.
Look out for their single Femme Mental – hailed as record of the week on Radio 1 and 2 for its yee-haw infectiousness, honky-tonk stomp and right old upbeat knees up.
“It might steal some of SFA's glory ahead of their new album,” Paul Lester, The Guardian.
