Pulled Apart By Horses:
a) have enough collective fringe to block out the sun
b) are the most Northern sounding people in the world
c) are more macho than He-Man skull-fucking Skeletor with a bottle of Stella
All of the above is bona fide fact and with their debut single ‘Meat Balloon’ Pulled Apart By Horses’ mission is to make sure you acknowledge this and hail them as your new Kings of equine rock.
Momentum has been building steadily over the past few months for PABH and the band have quickly grabbed attention from the likes of Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Scottish rising-stars Dananananaykroyd and the inquisitive minds of some of Britain’s most recognizable indie labels. Their sometimes angular but mostly aggressive, amp-melting blend of 70s rock riffs and contemporary alt-noise has seen them climb to the top of Leeds’ musical pile and establish themselves as one of the most essential new acts in Britain.
‘Meat Balloon’ is an energetic, infectious, ball-crushing, grungey, filthy jaunt through 4 minutes of steroid induced pleasure. If this doesn’t have you feeling ready to punch someone in the teeth at any minute then it will have you rolling around your room/office/floor screaming ‘AWESOME! RADICAL! TOTALLY BODACIOUS!’ air-guitaring your face off in nothing but your skiddied pants. If you react in any other way then B-side ‘Super Hang On’ should top off your testosterone sufficiently.
Super-indie Big Scary Monsters, current/previous home to Tubelord, Cats and Cats and Cats, Jeniferever and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, releases this limited 7” vinyl that is sure to firmly set PABH as one of the brightest hopes for the UK music scene in 2009.
