THE BATS (Christchurch, NZ)
Ultra-rare UK appearance from this legendary psychedelic folk pop foursome over here to promote the northern hemisphere release of their seventh album 'The Guilty Office', which is just as fresh and inspiring as anything they released during their period on the storied Flying Nun label.
'When the Bats get their teeth into it, it can range anywhere from light, diaphanous guitar based psychedelica to rousing, bittersweet hymns for the hard pressed parishioners of a brutal machine age, from melancholy chorales for the disenfranchised to electric sea shanties full of foreboding, from up beat amplified folk music for belligerent morris dancers to light 'progressive rock' (with maybe some of the artiness, but definitely none of the pretensions which that label usually implies) and the full range was on display tonight.' - John McPharlin, I-94 Bar (Aus)

MY SAD CAPTAINS (London)
With their debut album coming out soon on Stolen Recordings, this London-based quintet have managed to excite many in the capital with their slacker indie pop, and have already received loads of airplay on Radio 1 and XFM.
MSC produce an american alt-pop sound, touched with country lashes and occasional fiery noise outbursts which has been described as sounding a little like Pavement getting a pop overhaul with violin, melodica, keyboard, glockenspiel and various toys.

MATTHEW SAWYER & THE GHOSTS (London)
...is a man with many facets. he is an internationally respected visual artist, he's played drums for the influential post-punk band the television personalities, and he is the lead singer and songwriter with his own musical collective, which tonight appears in stripped-down form.
'Now this is true core. Absolute heartland: the voice is soulful, cracked, melancholy. The melodies are beautiful, full but certainly not overplayed- a smattering of echoed backing harmonies here, a hand-splatter of percussion there.' - Plan B magazine
