Wildfire Sessions would like to invite you to this very special intimate seated show featuring 4 quality original acoustic acts in the lovely surrounds of The Old Forge, Cranford. The show will be an early starter and food will be available (beef and veg chilli, cakes etc) as well as teas, coffee and soft drinks. You can bring your own alcohol. Buying tickets adv is recommended as there are only 45 seats available.


GEORGE BOROWSKI
So singer/songwriter George Borowski is the man often claimed to be the one who inspired the Dire Straits lyric, “Check out Guitar George, He knows all the chords...”. While playing for a group known as 'The Out' in Manchester, he was complimented by Mark Knopfler. The lyrics are often falsely cited as a tribute to George when in fact they were written before the two had ever me...

George speaks Polish and Russian
George is a direct blood relative of classical composer Sergei Rachmaninov
George sang opera before turning to rock ‘n roll
George is the Cultural Ambassador for Age Concern, Wales
George’s track ‘Who is Innocent’ was played over a total of 40 nights by John Peel on his BBC radio show.
The George Borowski 3 track 12” vinyl release ‘Guitar George’ was one of the last projects produced by the late Martin Hannett. George's musical compositions for, "A Conspiracy", his ten piece line-up, were recorded and produced by Oscar winner George Fenton.

George’s most unusual gigs to date:
1) Styal Women’s Prison!
2) On a snow covered roundabout at 3am to an audience of 5 police officers carrying out spot-check breathalyzer tests ... at their request!!
Recent History:
In 2010 a documentary was made about George’s musical history by Producer Sam Jones, including interviews with John Cooper Clarke.
In 2010 George played a leading role in the film, ‘A Drop of the Pure’ at the request of director Peter Vickers, alongside Christian Ryden and Louise Marie Kerr. The film was selected for several film festivals that year.
In 2011 Bill Leader, BBC Lifetime Achievement Award winner, recorded and produced a George Borowski solo album due for release in September 2012.

In his musical performance capacity, George has toured, (Europe, America, Australia, Japan, South America, Canada, Scandanavia) and shared stages with: Meatloaf, Pixies, Radiohead, Sad Café, Paul Brady, REM, Van Morrison, John Waite, The Breeders, Bonnie Rait, Phil Lynott, Lemmy, Happy Mondays, Curtis Mayfield, Teenage Fanclub, Neil Young, Tina Turner, Don McLean, David Essex, 10cc and more.

George has had four albums released in his own right. Writer credits on the most recent album by Lisa Mills, ‘Tempered in Fire’ for three tracks. Guitarist credits on a track for When in Rome and a track on the Teenage Fanclub album ‘Grand Prix’. One of George’s most notorious songs, ‘Manchester Boys’ formed part of the compilation album, ‘Martin Hannett – Maverick Producer, Genius and Musician.

KEVIN HEWICK
Kevin Hewick is an English singer-songwriter who was an early member of the Factory Records roster. Today he is known for his recordings on Pink Box Records, an independent label based in Leicester, and his work with Venetian collective Unfolk. Prolific and ever experimenting, as evidenced on a trio of epic recent new albums including 'Touching Stones, Tasting Rain' he is a unique story teller not to be missed.

STEVIE JONES
Stevie Jones has been playing live music and entertaining audiences for over 25 years. He set up the live music service Wildfire Sessions in 2011 putting on gigs and open mics across the East Midlands, When performing his original material live he appears solo or with full band The Wildfires. He also plays as a covers artist solo or with his duo 'The Waltzers', featuring Rob Matheson. Stevie’s roots were laid down busking and playing floor spots at folk clubs in his native Northants. In the 90s he lived for two years in Germany, extensively gigging in the duo Acres Wild and then spent time in Dublin, playing on the city’s fibrant open mic scene - experiences which have provided him with a wealth of influences and inspiration. Back home after meeting up at a local acoustic night he was joined on stage by the guitar skills of Mark Gill which forged a musical partnership spanning 10 years. Support gigs included Nick Harper, Ian Mc Nabb, Chris Helme, The Trews, Justin Sullivan and Dean White, Blackballed plus slots at Leicesters’ top festivals Big Session and Summer Sundae. He has toured annually with US singer songwriter Janet Robin(Lindsay Buckingham Band/Precious Metal). 2016 saw the launch of his well-received first full album 'Stratigraphic Heart' with band The Wildfires and the band have been touring hard since picking up acclaim including airplay on Planet Rock.
