The Real Music Club seek to find the best music that we feel can inspire and entertain, focusing on originality and uniqueness. We pride ourselves on putting something different on every month in Brighton & Hove. This month we present Crayola Lectern and CAAW!
Crayola Lectern released his debut double album, 'The Fall and Rise of...' to great critical acclaim in 2013 with its follow up coming out last year. 'Happy Endings' is an album of extraordinary music, borne of an extravagance of imagination, unfettered by convention or fashion, poised rather sexily in some other dimension beyond the usual parameters. Piano-oriented songs and adventures which affect people greatly, forming a unique musical world, all of its own, in thrall to nobody, best described as "what psychedelic music would have sounded like had the Edwardians invented it." Death and love crop up a lot, with a sacred/profane, soulful/irreverent, silly yet deadly serious wisdom, which recognises the universality of its themes, allowing them to gently explode into your ears.
CAAW are a Brighton based band with a sound that might have come about if New York No Wave had spent a lost weekend in New Orleans. Add to that hints of dive bar jazz, delta blues, East European folk and the dark lure of cabaret, and you have the seductive circus fanfare that is CAAW!
