The Toy Museum Folk Club is Brighton's newest traditional folk night, bringing the very best acts to the unique setting of Brighton Toy and Model Museum. Come and watch intimate acoustic sets from the finest folk talents, and explore the train sets, model planes and traditional children's toys on display in the museum.
From acoustic to electronic, Harri Endersby blurs the lines of the folk genre, drawing inspiration from both contemporary and traditional music, as well as the rugged landscape of County Durham, the place that she calls home.
Her debut album Homes/Lives, released in February 2017, has impressed critics around the country and she has had tracks played on BBC Radio 6, Radio Scotland, and Radio Wales. Homes/Lives presents a transition in style, beginning with acoustic, stripped-back tracks whilst gradually introducing electronic instrumentation and beats as the album progresses.
Support for the evening comes from Thickets. Performing for us as a duo, Thickets combine the autoharp and cello to mesmeric effect. Imagine a rolling countryside, cold and calm under a thick, heavy blanket of soft white snow. Now let night fall on the scene, dark and sinister and unknowable. That’s the best we can do in describing the sound of Thickets. A wonderful live act, they make the music that soundtracks Kate Bush’s dreams and inspires rural British horror movies.
This is a chance to catch Harri Endersby in a unique space, bringing her music to an intimate audience of fans, vintage stuffed toys and model trains!
