Oxford Music Scene Open Meeting

Come and share your ideas for Oxford's music scene, and let’s work out what we can do to change things for the better.

Event information

More venues closing, audiences with less cash in their pockets, artists struggling to make ends meet, inequality and underrepresentation still a huge problem, changes to transport around the city… Yet Oxford is a city with so much energy for music, so many brilliant people making wonderful things happen against the odds. With this much will and passion, how incredible could the scene be if things were a bit less difficult?
Let’s get together and discuss some of the challenges and opportunities, and how we can support each other and work together to strengthen and grow the amazing music community in Oxford.

Following our first open discussion, we would like to invite you to join us again, this time at Modern Art Oxford. This will be an opportunity to continue exploring the ideas that came up in our first gathering, and to update everyone on any changes or progress in the last few months.

When you sign up until the evening of Wednesday the 28th of July, you’ll have the chance to let us know if there are any particular topics you’d like to discuss, and we’ll try to create an agenda for the day that covers the hottest issues. If you book your ticket after that, you won't be able to suggest a topic beforehand, but you will be able to bring it up on the day and we will try to add it in the agenda, if it's not already.

You are welcome to join us for this meeting whether you attended the Open Space in February or not. We would love to welcome new voices and fresh perspectives to the conversation. Please share this event with other individuals or organisations that you think might want to be part of this conversation.

There will be hot drinks available, and food is available to purchase at the gallery’s Cafe.
