SIBRYDION
Having spent the last couple of years building up a loyal following in Wales with their Welsh language albums, Sibrydion released their debut 'English language' long player earlier this year. Though not fundamentally a concept LP, brothers Meilir and Osian Gwynedd have laced "Campfire Classics' with their 'Django folklore' that betrays their healthy love for the wild, wild west.
Produced by their friend Cian Ciaran from Super Furry Animals, Sibrydion have lassoed stories of Leone-inspired tales of betrayal and redemption whilst skimming a coin into Burt Bacharach's pool of bittersweet songwriting, to make a bright, dynamic, eccentric and slightly warped pop album
Meilir and Osian Gwynedd began their musical life in a band called Big Leaves who quickly became one of Wales' most popular groups thanks to their love for big harmonies on songs like 'Racing Birds' and 'Electro- Magnetic pollution'. Both brothers have contributed to Super Furry Animals albums in the past and Osian most recently played drums on tour with Gruff Rhys' Candylion project
“Campfire Classics opening one-two of God Forgives, I Don’t and Coupe de Grace hits us with a spaghetti western intro by the way of The Coral, and fuzzed up, Theramin pop-psych that screams early Super Furry Animals, right down to the slightly gruffer Gruff Rhys vocals. -Record Collector

SMOKERS DIE YOUNGER
A bunch of smokin', drinkin' waywards from
Sheffield with too much time on their hands and a predeliction for early Pavement and, almost inevitably, The Fall. Already championed by
Steve Lamacq and Mark Riley, their debut album 'X Wants The Meat' was
released through the ultra-hip Sheffield Phonographic Corporation label
(The Long Blondes).
“Smokers Die Younger throw a deliciously cheap sounding organ and some remarkably warped trumpets into a mix of Wire and Nation of Ulysses, and then infuse the resulting eclecticism with an unifying dose of anger, sarcasm, hurt and skewed humour.” (Drowned In Sound)
