Event information

The release of ‘We’re becoming Islands One by One’ took The Sleeping Years across France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and the UK, with dates in Vienna and Ireland. This included shows supporting Bowerbirds, Damien Jurado, Gregor Samsa, Edwyn Collins and Okkervil River. Dale also collaborated on projects with the band Rothko and with songwriter Ted Barnes (Beth Orton, Clayhill). ‘This old world grown quiet’ by Dale and Ted was performed recently with an orchestra at London’s Union Chapel.

"a record that only Bon Iver's ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’ has really rivalled in recent months. 'We're Becoming Islands One By One' could be remembered as one of 2008's best of its kind in years to come." - 8/10 DROWNED IN SOUND

"his voice breaks exquisitely between hope and despair in songs that the acoustic guitar was invented for" - THE GUARDIAN

"a one-man show that owes his lilting metaphysical lyricism to the likes of Nick Drake, Elliot Smith and John Martyn. It's good to know that there are people like him out there" - DAZED & CONFUSED

François and the Atlas Mountains :"If you've been feeling a little jaded with music lately, fed up with its ordinariness, its souless polish, then try this. Filled with laughter, this beautifully packaged LP has an organic and real feel to it, with sweat songs and chirpy beats that caresses away sadness as softly as rain washes away litter. This is an album of diamonds that may make music sparkle for you again" - THE FLY

Imagine if Elliot Smith was a girl and wasn't so depressed. Imagine Joanna Newsom kicked her harp out the window and grabbed an Emmylou Harris Hummingbird... Catriona Irving has been described as having "a voice of such delicacy and sweetness, like a meringue not yet set, or thin sheets of sugar glass" (inthecompanyofus.com) and been declared “a young artist worth watching” (METRO)
