Bearded cult favourite US singer-songwriter whose acoustic folk songs have been featured in TV's Grey's Anatomy and One Tree Hill. He was raised by two blind parents in a very musical family home. He is often compared to contemporaries Sufjan Stevens and the late Elliott Smith, not only for his unique style and skill in writing and proclivity to deal with substantive and evocative subject matter, but also for his use of organic and colorful melodies and arrangements. The third of Fitzsimmons's self-made CDs, "The Sparrow and the Crow" was named iTunes' No. 1 singer-songwriter album of 2008 before its release, and with over 4 million hits on his myspace you can watch him quietly and subtly becoming a star.
