MISSY G: Gemma Smith aka Missy G was once Wales's only female drum n' bass MC. Now, with the help of a ‘Sound of the City' commission, the DJ, rapper, producer & singer - who also runs New Era Talent CIC, an organisation that mentors local young people in developing music creation skills - is creating a new multi-genre album, and will be launching it at this Cardiff Music City Festival event. Over ten tracks spanning grime, R&B, hip-hop and soft rock, she hopes to tell her own story and "show other people who face barriers, with lived experience & who live in poverty, to never give up."

SKUNKADELIC is the moniker of Tumi Williams, a trailblazing emcee, artist & educator making giant strides in the UK hip hop scene. His erudite lyrics and signature rich baritone can be heard across solo work ‘Musically Drifting’, ‘No Time’ and as collaborator with the likes of The Allergies, Ty, Stagga, Magugu, Mazbou Q, Mr Woodnote and Band Pres Llareggub. He also fronts 9-piece Welsh afro-funk collective Afro Cluster. Skunkadelic’s multi-genre aesthetic is always refreshing, taking inspiration from the cerebral sensibilities of jazz rap (ATCQ, The Roots, Guru, The Pharcyde, De La Soul) and blending it with the invigorating sounds of his ancestral Nigeria (Fela Kuti, Tony Allen) culminating in an authentic voice empowered by generations of diverse music.

VERBAL REMEDY: loose collection of singers and MCs with roots in HipHop, Soul & Funk. Expect lyrical dexterity with powerful vocals and diverse styles. Pulled together by Cardiff MC UNITY from artists she had previously collaborated with, the collective has plenty of experience in sharing a stage and bringing the party!
