Malian world music superstar and champion of the ngoni (West African lute) Bassekou Kouyate and his band Ngoni ba bring to Coventry, for the first time, their utterly addictive African blues. Their first album 'Segu Blue' is one of Songlines magazine's 10 Best Albums of 2007 and was listed in The Guardian's 1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die (November 2007) and Observer Music Monthly's best 50 albums of 2007. The more recent 'I Speak Fula' captures the incredible live energy of Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba and is the next step in the career of one of Mali's most exciting and innovative musicians coming out of Africa.
