"Over The Green Hills"
feat:
CAITLIN ROSE - Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee is something of a burden, when you're a country singer. But 22 year old Caitlin Rose is no ordinary country singer. Blessed with a startling, precocious native talent, a silvery, bell-clear, brilliant voice and crucially, an undeniable charisma along with defiant songwriting style all her own, Caitlin Rose draws to mind the pure country pop of Jenny Lewis, the early folk experiments of Beck and the sheer cheek of Moldy Peaches, underlying a gigantic vocal talent scaling the heights of Neko Case alongside her obvious adoration of Linda Ronstadt, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris and Patsy Cline. Already receiving rave reviews, Rose takes the simplicity of country music and connects it with the excitement of forward-thinking and original American young and independent sounds. This see is her hotly anticipated first visit to the UK for live appearances.
"Terrific from start to finish" - Uncut
"Her voice is extraordinary" - The Guardian
THE BOY WHO TRAPPED THE SUN - The Boy's first EP, 'Home', is released through the ever-dependent mark of quality new folk-tinged acts, Chess Club records (Local Natives, Middle East, Peggy Sue) in March. On this, and his debut album, Colin wrote, co-produced and played all the instruments himself (except the strings and female vocals). Full of intricate finger plucking, hushed melody and Bon Iver-esque forestry traditional folk songs , Macloed is inhabited by the melancholic spirit of Nick Drake, the reflective spine tingle of Fionn Regan and the uplifting push of Sprinsteen, albeit exercised with quiet restrain. He now plays live as a full band. http://www.myspace.com/theboywhotrappedthesun
MATTHEW AND THE ATLAS - Hailing from Aldershot by way of London, the up-coming folk five piece will be releasing their debut EP 'to the North' in April on Communion, one of the leading folk nights in London (run by Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons and Kev ex-Cherbourg). Reminiscent of Bonnie Prince Billy and Bon Iver as well as titans of UK traditional folk. Tear-jerking and heart-breaking but quietly beautiful and serene, vocalist Matthew Hegarty is wonderfully timeless and hugely inspiring artist, backed by a hugely talented group of musicians. www.myspace.com/matthewandtheatlas
