LEAFCUTTER JOHN

Many may recognise the London-based artist as a full-time member of Mercury Music Prize nominee Polar Bear. Others might be more familiar with his work as a remixer.

Since his first release on Planet-Mu records in 2000, John has developed a strong musical identity using processed instrumental and environmental recordings. His album The Housebound Spirit (Planet-Mu, 2003) won an Honorary Mention at the 2004 Ars Electronica Awards and was featured on The Wire Magazine�s top 50 records of 2003. He writes his music software, has given talks and exhibited software across Europe and is also a regular guest speaker at the London College of Communication.

Currently Leafcutter John's practice is split between playing live, recording projects, the production and performance of animated graphic scores, and creating art installations.
Leafcutter John has collaborated with: David Toop, Sebastian Rochford, Sebastien Roux, Kaffe Matthews, Janek Schaefer, Tomoko Takahashi, and Ingrid Laubrock. And has played concerts worldwide with: Matmos, Nick Cave, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Jarvis Cocker, Yo La Tengo, Grace Jones, Beth Orton, Otomo Yoshihide, Aki Onda, Phillip Jeck, Carsten Nicolai, Tujiko Noriko amongst others.

John will be premiering new material at this show.

MANDELBROT (Official Album Launch Show)

Mandelbrot is the solo project of Keung from Mandelbrot Set and focuses more on the experimental side of guitar manipulation, utilizing the effects pedals and samplers to a much greater degree and truly creating some mind-bending sounds.

From a melodic base, the sound evolves in many directions, from digital crackle to white noise, from ebowed drones to subsonic lowends. For musical sign-posts, think the musical crossroads of Aerial M, Spacemen3, and SunnO))).

Keung will be playing pieces from the forthcoming debut album "Effect / Delay".

LINA LAPELYTE

Lina is a Lithuanian violinist, sound artist and composer. Her work encompasses live performances, sound installations, scores for dance, theater and film. Since 2005 she has been composing and performing electronic/electroacoustic music.

Now based in London she is actively involved in London improvised music scene, using violin as her base instrument. She is also a member of the laptop quartet Twentytwentyone - the ensemble devoted to the performances of graphical notation scores.

Among her collaborators are artists Douglas Benford, David Ryan, Leafcutter John, Mandelbrot Set, Edie Prevost, Peter Cusack, Angharad Davies and others.
