FISTS
Fists formed in 2006 buoyed by music discoveries such as Joe Meek's home-recorded 50s pop and Daniel Johnston's cassette tapes. Musically they’re are an ever-shifting amalgam of DIY music genres spanning the past 50 years from skiffle punk to country twang goes indiepop. Debut single 'Cockatoo' catapulted them from local acclaim to the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury, and appearances at Dot To Dot Festival, the Summer Sundae Fringe and a sold out gig at Be @ Proud within a few short months of its release. It also received extensive exposure from a number of outlets including BBC 6Music, Radio 2, Radio 1, NME Radio, Diesel:U:Music, Resonance FM and XFM and was named by Artrocker as number 34 in their top 100 records of 2009, and was also recently licensed for inclusion on Rough Trade’s Counter Culture 09’ compilation. Their new 4 track Olympic Hits EP is released through Hello Thor Records on Monday 29th March 2010.
“There’s something very special about Nottingham band Fists. There’s a rabble feel to their indie rock, with washboards & keys adding to the Velvet Undergroundy guitar” (Artrocker)

THE LEAF LIBRARY
The Leaf Library started after the demise of guitarist Matt Ashton’s previous band, Peel-favourites Saloon. He and vocalist/keyboardist Kate Gibson were joined by bass player Gareth Jones, guitarist Ben Smith and eventually drummer Lewis Young. With influences that include buildings, stationery and the weather; the band create minimal, melodic songs with a sound that sits comfortably between Stereolab’s two chord drone rock and the stripped-down groove of late 70s Fleetwood Mac.
“Sounds that spin perfectly between electro-drone kosmiche and downy, gazing-out-of-windows indie-pop.” (Kitten Painting)

WE SHOW UP ON RADAR
We Show Up On RadaR is multi-instrumentalist and producer Andrew Wright, his vivid imagination, and the greatest anthropomorphic folk tales seen since the Brothers Grimm put down their quills. In equal parts the optimism and sheer joy of the Flaming Lips; the despair and futility of Daniel Johnston; the storytelling of Colin Meloy; and the wide-eyed imagination of a child who has stared right through the looking glass.
"Syd Barrett does indie pop: songs about animals and their sports days, the sun with his hat on and wanting to be a car. Not to forget ruminations on turbulent personal relationships, melancholia and mortality". (Records On Ribs)

MARCEL
Marcel hail from the Isle Of Wight, come on like mid-period XTC, like The Beach Boys who’ve had their surfboards stolen, like the ghost of Syd Barrett wrestling Stephen Duffy to the ground. Live, with The Loves’ Simon Stone on additional guitar, they shake the ground and wet the eyes like Wilco or no one else you can think.
“Charming, surreal, beautiful and British. So, much like beans on toast” (Billy Reeves, BBC London)

Guest DJ Tom Whalley (Hello Thor Records, BBC 6music)
