Former guitarist & vocalist of BEAT HAPPENING, founder of legendary underground label K RECORDS, and often cited as a major player in the beginning of the modern independent music movement, CALVIN JOHNSON performs an exclusive set at Chapter Arts Centre.

Based in Olympia, CALVIN JOHNSON's work in underground culture started as a teenage fan volunteering at the local community radio station, KAOS-FM. He moved on to writing for fanzines, organising music & film events, and playing music in various bands.

In 1993 Calvin also founded DUB NARCOTIC, a recording studio in which he has documented the work of acts such as Mirah, The Blow, Built to Spill, Make-Up and Little Wings. It has also been the incubator of many Calvin experiments in collaboration and self-expression, such as BEAT HAPPENING, HALO BENDERS and DUB NARCOTIC SOUND SYSTEM.
