France’s High Wolf melds fluorescent psychedelia, buzzing electronic loops and underwater new-age synths with the percussive backing of 2-3 half naked drum circles just peaking on acid. It’s like he’s gargle-blasted the same ecstatic sunshine that powers the likes of Animal Collective, Astral Social Club and Pocahaunted and come up with a strain of extra-terrestrial exotica. I’m pretty sure those blue dopes out of Avatar are listening to High Wolf whilst they chonk their magic cactus juice. Records out on Not Not Fun and Dekorder.

If you taped your favourite Terry Riley album (ahhhh c’mon, we’ve all got one) onto cassette and then left the tape out in the garden overnight as part of that ‘art project’ you managed to con the taxpayer into funding and then eagerly jammed the dew covered cartridge back into your player the next morning- this is what it would sound like. Probably. But better.
