Event information

Busking Cancer are proud to present our next Busking Cancer party, which is being held at the wonderful location of the HMS Belfast, moored on the Thames near Tower Bridge. We ran a party here last year, and it was absolutely fantastic, and we're really excited about returning to the venue.

This year, we are running two stages of music, which feature the following artists, all of whom are playing for free to raise money for Cancer Research UK (we love them!)

HEADLINE: Newton Faulkner

Difford of Squeeze
http://www.chrisdifford.com/
Squeeze were 'the' band of the New Wave era, with instantly recognisable anthems including 'Cool for Cats' and 'Up the Junction'. Chris wrote these songs with Glenn Tillbrook, and the two are currently in the studio, and are planning to release Speak the Difference on Anchor and Hope Music in Autumn 2010. To see Chris perform 'Up the Junction', click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPhBNeGM97k

Noemie Ducimetiere
Noemie was recently awarded the title of 'Young Busker of the Year' in this year's Rhythm of London Busking Underground competition. To see Noemie in action busking, click this link:

Jamie West
Jamie was 2009's 'Young Busker of the Year', he's recently released his first single 'Give me Everything You've Got' to critical acclaim. To see one of London's best buskers live, click here: http://www.jamiewest.net/Jamie_West/News.html

Tom Godfrey
Our Busking Cancer Champion for 2009, for his tireless fundraising and dedication to the Busking Cancer campaign.

The Charlie Rivers Band
http://www.charlierivers.co.uk/
In the space of only 11 months, The Charlie Rivers Band has morphed from the 'hear-a-pin-drop' sounds of one man and his guitar, to an uncompromising full band musical experience. Playing sell out gig after sell out gig in the UK and around the world, audiences soak up Charlie's sensitive lyrics, supported by his band who never fail to provide breathtaking harmonies and stunning charismatic performances.

Layth and S3O (human beatboxers)
For those who don't know, beatboxing is the art of making drums, rythym and musical sounds using just an individuals mouth, lips and tongue (thanks to Wikipedia for the description!) Layth was a finalist in this years UK Beatboxing Championships, and he and S3O are regular partners, playing around London and the South East. They regularly perform at Busking Cancer events, and always go down a storm. To see some examples of these guys at work, check out these links:

Martin Family
One of our most dedicated buskers from this years campaign to date, check him out here (prepare for goosebumps before you do...) http://www.youtube.com/marty2310

FitsRoy
Seeing themselves as an indie/punk/dance with 80's undertones, FitsRoy are a Brighton band who continue to produce their uplifting dance music, enjoyed by unsuspecting ears as well as their loyal following from day one. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/fitsroy

Law Rocks Winners
These two bands were the winners of this years Law Rocks! events, which saw several legal practices go head to head at the wonderful 100 Club to raise money for charity. Law Rocks have been a fantastic supporter of Busking Cancer this year, and we're delighted to have these two bands playing at our launch event. For more info on Law Rocks, check out http://www.lawrocks.com/

Tickets for this event are priced at £15, with ALL of this money going to Cancer Research UK. We're hoping to raise a whopping £100,000 for the charity this year.
