Join us in the pagan underworld of Ginglik beneath Shepherds Bush Green to celebrate the release of LUKE ABBOTT's debut album 'Holkham Drones' with a live set from the Norfolker himself, where he promises to wheel out a flavour of the boutique analogue equipment that has become something of an obsession. The lush organic textures of the ever-so-slightly-wonky 'Holkham Drones' seems to somehow channel the pagan heritage of the British Isles through this incongruous electronic medium, just as his Kraut counterparts and forbears Harmonia sought to do in Germany almost forty years before: come along and see just why Mojo saw fit to name it 'Electronica Album of the Month'.
Extremely venerable support on the evening comes from recent Kompakt wonders (and good friends of ours) WALLS, whose short-but-sweet eponymous debut album released earlier this year has also been the recipient of widespread critical acclaim in all of the right places. Sam 'Allez-Allez' Willis and Alessio 'Banjo or Freakout' Natalizia form one of the cutest live electronica pairings around, with a live show of warm-and-fuzzy shoegazey dream-pop to match.
Luke Abbott video co-conspirator MICHAEL PAGE will also be presenting his own live offering for our delectation. Observant Border Community devotees may remember Mikey's stylish videos (and papier mache animal heads) made to go with Luke's previous 'Whitebox Stereo' and 'Melody120' releases, as well as the pair of quirky Michael Page audio-visual remixes that accompanied them.
Border Community leader JAMES HOLDEN will also be taking advantage of the Kraut-tinged flavour of the evening to take a detour through the more alternative electronic vagaries of his record collection between live performances, before our original Norfolk country boy NATHAN FAKE is given a welcome chance to indulge his own newly developed sideline in DJing to round things off a treat.
Luke Abbott's 'Holkham Drones' is released on 23rd August on Border Community.
