Bellini

Bellini is a rhythmic, tight, beautifully aggressive quartet consisting of Agostino Tilotta, his wife Giovanna Cacciola (both also of Italy's famed Uzeda), bassist Matthew Taylor (the Romulans) and drummer Alexis Fleisig (Girls Against Boys). Though retaining some of the basic elements of their former selves, Bellini are more focused, more structured and more rhythmic than ever before. They embody the true spirit of perseverance and punk rock, making uncompromising, honest music strictly for the brutal love of it.
BELLINI
The Precious Prize of Gravity
Its been exactly four years since we last heard from Bellini. Four years is a long time, but when youre husband-and-wife punk rock power couple Giovanna Cacciola and Agostino Tilotta, it can seem like a long holiday in the face of their nearly 25-year career of collaboration. Coming back from holiday, the two reunite with bassist Matthew Taylor and drummer Alexis Fleisig (also of Girls Against Boys) to unleash their third and most thunderous album, The Precious Prize of Gravity.
Recorded as always with long-time collaborator Steve Albini, Precious Prize is Bellinis most accomplished production yet. Tilotta wraps a hundred notes per minute around the towering, sturdy rhythm section while Cacciolas poetic lyrics and smoky melodies alternately recall Grace Slick and PJ Harvey.
With no less than four songs centering around the deaths of loved ones (including the heart-wrenching The Thin Line, featuring the surviving members of Silkworm), Precious Prize is lyrically Bellinis darkest album yet. Never wanting to repeat themselves, the songs are more complex and progressive than the comparatively stark Small Stones, with a driving, X-inspired cowpunk vibe throughout.
No doubt the spirits of fallen friends and loved ones informs Precious Prize, but its Bellinis restless creativity and determination to pay tribute to the past by dragging it into the present that is the real honor here.

Dead Days Beyond Help
www.myspace.com/deaddaysbeyondhelp
Odd, Technical London Guitar and Drum proggy post punk/metal riff-mongering duo that just won't fit comfortably in any sub genre.
Formed in early 2007 and released their debut album "Access Denied!" on Copepod in October 2009.
Their gigs mix intricate and aggressive instrumental compositions with improvisation, songs (originals and covers) and any other questionable notions that occur in the heat of performance.
"formidably knotty, complex music which avoids the dry geekiness of US math rock while beating it hands down in terms of intensity and fluidity..." - The Wire.
