Dario Vigorito (241-24-7) will be joining us for an informal discussion on music video production, with screenings of his work for such artists as Selfish Cunt, Sam Amant, and Beastellabeast. Facilitated by Robert Monk, this session will allow the exchange of ideas about the relationship between video and sound, the dynamics of collaboration between musician and filmmaker, outlooks on new media and new formats, and music videos as a political protest and a tool against the gentrification of the music industry.
ABOUT DARIO VIGORITO
Dario Vigorito is a video artist who operates under the name 241-24-7. Born in Naples, Italy, Vigorito lives and works in London where he graduated from Saint Martin's College of Art before pursuing a career in the music video industry and the audio-visual arts.
A firm believer in intimate, immediate and ethical approach in film making, with a passionate interest for uncompromising feminist / feminine voices , Vigorito has collaborated in making "Visions" (images, videos, visuals, sometime make up and costumes) for underground music Reginas such as SELFISH CUNT, AN EXPERIMENT ON A BIRD IN THE AIR PUMP, BEASTELLABEAST, SAM AMANT, SCOUT NIBLET, DIRTY SNOW , HEATHER JONES X, STARVATION BOX and SCANNERS to name a few.
Of the school of synchronical editing , Vigorito is also creative assistant , editor and technical collaborator of director Chris Cunningham with whom he has put together the Chris Cunningham Live experience, a series of successful live shows on tour around the world since 2009. Described by the Guardian as thrilling and technically remarkable , the shows consist of old and new audio visual material remixed and edited across three screens. For these shows , Vigorito has also collaborated with Cunningham in shooting and editing new videos with GRACE JONES , SAMANTHA MORTON and GIL SCOTT HERON... in pretty much same principles of intimacy of his own productions.
