Jason Urick (of WZT Hearts) is yet another product of Baltimore’s unstoppable and multifarious experimental scene that produced musicians like Entrance, Ecstatic Sunshine, Dan Deacon, Beach House and Cass McCombs. Signed to Thrill Jockey (the label that brought you Tortoise, David Byrne, Boredoms, Oval and many more), Urick creates a hypnotic strand of looped ambient dub. It’s intelligent, subtle and slow-developing, sounding like the eroded and cut up remains of some hit dance track, yet still retaining a simplicity and pleasantness of rhythm to make you actually want to move your body and sway.
