We are in the midst of a radical shift in our society and economy. The scale is equivalent to the changes of the 1870s and 1920s and their birthing of the mass industrial and managerial ages, which demanded such dramatic re-configurations of the city.
Unlike the economies of the BRIC - Brazil, Russia, India and China - Europe is not about to dramatically remodel its built environments and cities. Europe’s transformation will have to be undertaken through a careful intersection of retrofitting the existing built environment, reorganising institutional infrastructures, and creating open and embedded grassroots networks - new Local 2.0 Technologies.
00:/ is amongst a new breed of architectural practices starting to build and design new categories of interventions and tools to manifest change in our cities, in a reconfiguration of what it means to be an architect. 00:/ will present a reflective manifesto based on recent projects, exploring this intersection of challenges and solutions, and the systemic questions it raises for architecture today.
