The London Underground Film Festival presents The Putrescent Pictureshow, a selection of short independent horror films. See below for the programme of sinister fairytales and softcore necrotica.
PROGRAMME
HOUSE PARTY OF THE DEAD V (2010)
Director: Andy Edwards (UK)
Duration: 14 min. 5 sec.
House Party of the Dead V: The Good, the Bad, and the Zombie, follows a young cocktail waitress on her first day of work in a sleazy underground bar while the zombie pandemic (that began in Part I) rages outside.
The Houseparty of the Dead series began three years ago, with a no-budget effort shot in an afternoon in the director's flat. The zombies were created with a mix of red-paint, cornflakes and glue. Since then, the pandemic has spread as far away as Buenos Aires, and has grown in size and ambition with each fresh release. Possibly due to the fact that they encourage all their zombie extras to get drunk, the Houseparty of the Dead people have had no shortage of volunteers, and have recently wrapped filming on Part VI.

SEWN
Director: James R. Kipping (UK)
Duration: 16 min.
Set in a timeless fairytale world, Sewn follows the strong-willed Amber (Roxanne Stutchbury) as she is forced to work for the evil Keeper (John Hoye). Punished for her morals, Amber joins with the deaf and blind workers (Zoe Hinks and Merry Colchester) to expose the Keeper’s deception. Haunting yet enchanting, this visually elegant short film allegorises real world issues of oppression and enslavement, and adds a touch of class to the Putrescent Pictureshow programme.
The film is a collaboration between the University of Sussex graduates James R. Kipping, Helen Gladders, Naomi Cushbourne and Lauren Clements. Brought together studying the course ‘Media Practice and Theory’, the production team hope to develop further shorts and feature films.

SICK AND TWISTED (2005)
Director: Consuelo Giorgi (IT/UK)
Duration: 29 min.
Described by the director as "low low low budget", Sick and Twisted was shot in Rome with help from friends studying at the Rome Film School in Cinecitta and unpaid theatre actors. We're not sure what the film's "about", exactly, but there's a demented serial-killing nurse with a religious mania, drug addled goth girls, and a shut-in with a *really* unhealthy TV fixation. New films in development by Giorgi include The Three Little Piggies, and a Nazi torture horror short called The Waldemar Experiment.
