THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART (NEW YORK, USA)
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are a New York four-piece who play genius noisy pop songs with boy/girl vocals, blissful melodies, fuzz guitar and blistering drums. Despite only having been together for a couple of years The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are one of the buzz American bands of the moment. Tipped as one of five to watch in 2009 by Pitchfork founder Ryan Schreiber on ABC news, their self-titled debut album on Fortuna POP! collected every accolade under the sun and featured prominently in the 2009 'Best Of' lists of Pitchfork, NME and Rough Trade Shops, to name but a few. They wowed the crowds at ATP, SXSW, Primavera, Roskilde and The Isle Of Wight festivals and stormed the UK with some incredible tours, including sold out shows at London's The Garage, Scala and Heaven. Thrilling and insouciantly cool, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart might just be the most exciting indiepop band on the planet right now. The band will be previewing material from their just record!
ed second album.
"Pure indiepop to hold close to your heart." - NME

14 ICED BEARS
Formed in 1985 by Rob Sekula, 14 Iced Bears ably blended shambolic pop with a psychedelic punk edge that set them apart from their C86 contemporaries. Inspired by bands like the Stooges, Velvet Underground, 13th Floor Elevators and Echo & the Bunnymen, Sekula injected the then-nascent indie-pop sound with a twisted dose of noise and experimental menace. While still owing plenty to the Byrds/Ramones influences evident in the output of labels like Creation and Pink, it was this dark 60s flavor that always set the 'Bears apart.
"A classically British amalgam of noise, deep male vocals, bouncy late-'80s jangle and chiming, neopsychedelic guitars." (Time Out)

THE ZEBRAS (MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA)
The Zebras are more like a group of World War One flying aces than one of Australia's favourite indie groups. They deliver their driving pop tunes with a minimum of acrobatics yet a maximum of impact and always attack with the sun behind them, loaded with harmony, chiming guitars and irresistible melodies.
"The Zebras music is crafted with the jangle pop that made the movements of C86 and Sarah Records so loveable. From the punchy guitar to the driving percussion, each song contains the power to knock you off your feet." (Fense Post)
